Bank statement PDF to Tally
Two ways in: import-ready Excel for TallyPrime’s bank statement import, or Tally XML vouchers you import from the Gateway.
Why Tally rejects converted statements
TallyPrime 6.x reads bank statements from Excel and CSV but reports “invalid format” when the sheet has merged cells, blank rows, text dates like 01/09/26, or amounts stored as text with commas. Most PDF converters produce exactly that. RubricRise writes real Excel dates, numeric amounts and a single clean table.
Option 1 — Excel import in TallyPrime
- Export Excel (.xlsx) from RubricRise.
- In TallyPrime go to Banking → Bank Reconciliation → select the bank ledger → Import Bank Statement.
- Choose the Excel file and map Date, Narration, Debit, Credit and Balance if prompted.
Option 2 — Tally XML vouchers
- Enter your bank ledger name (exactly as in Tally) and a contra ledger such as “Suspense A/c”.
- Export Tally XML. Credits become Receipt vouchers, debits become Payment vouchers, with the narration and reference preserved.
- In TallyPrime: Gateway of Tally → Import → Vouchers → select the XML. Re-map the suspense entries to the right party or expense ledgers.
Statement already in Excel or CSV?
Many banks let you download the statement as Excel or CSV. Drop that file in instead of the PDF and RubricRise reads the columns directly. See Excel bank statement to Tally.
Checks before you import
RubricRise reconciles each row against the printed running balance and flags anything that does not add up. Import only after the checks column is clean — it takes seconds and saves a reconciliation headache later.
